(updated 30.03.2021)

The Government has encouraged the use of a home office for everyone who has the opportunity to do so in the period from and including March 25 until further notice. Sami University of Applied Sciences will follow up on this encouragement, and in that way takes part in the social responsibility to try to prevent the virus from spreading. Therefore all employees that are able to will be working from home. Please contact your manager if clarifications related to the work situation are necessary.

Sámi allaskuvla constantly monitors the current infection control rules so that events can be carried out.

New recommendations

  • The one-meter now becomes the two-meter. Keep 2 meters away from others where possible, except those you live with, your partner or 1-2 regular contacts if you live alone.
  • The use of face masks applies in all places where it is not possible to keep a distance of 2 meters.
  • It is recommended for students and staff to limit social contacts and avoid unnecessary domestic travel.
  • It is recommended to only use shopping centers and department stores in the home municipality.

The most important infection control measures that everyone should follow are:

1. Illness and quarantine

  • If you are ill or have a feeling of illness, then you should stay at home.
  • If you are in quarantine, then you should not visit or stay at Diehtosiida. If you need to come to Diehtosiida, then you can assess risks of infection together with your manager.

2. Hygiene

  • Wash hands frequently and thoroughly in lukewarm soapy water. If you do not have access to water, use disinfection with alcohol based products.
  • Use paper tissue in front of your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing. Throw the tissue after use. If you do not have paper tissue, use a flexed elbow.
  • Wash your hands before touching your face and before eating.

3. Keep a distance from others

  • Keep at least 2 meter away from other people.

4. Travel

The main rule is that employees should not travel, unless it is necessary. Meetings and other types of gatherings should as far as possible be held digitally. Employees must assess risk together with the manager, and based on this decide whether the trip is necessary.

We encourage all our students and staff to decrease their travelling activity as much as possible. This also applies to domestic travel.

We note that you have a responsibility to follow which rules apply at any time at the border crossing. You must in particular be careful about whether you are allowed to cross the border, whether you need to prove documentation and / or take mandatory testing for covid-19 and what quarantine rules apply when crossing the border. Information and rules about border crossing can be found here: Quarantine and isolation - NIPH (

The situation can change quickly, and then the measures also change. An update on current measures will then be available on the website.
