(Updated 29.03.2021)

The government introduced on 23th March, the new national measures to prevent the infection from spreading to areas with little infection. All teaching at Sami University College is therefore carried out digitally in the period from and including March 25 until further notice.

New recommendations from the Norwegian government

  • The one-meter now becomes the two-meter. Keep 2 meters away from others where possible, except those you live with, your partner or 1-2 regular contacts if you live alone.
  • The use of face masks applies in all places where it is not possible to keep a distance of 2 meters.
  • It is recommended with a maximum of two guests visiting.
  • You should limit social contacts as much as possible.
  • All unnecessary trips must be postponed or cancelled.
  • It is recommended to only use shopping centers and department stores in the home municipality.

Risk group students: Some groups are at particular risk of developing more severe disease of covid-19. Read facts about risk groups. Those students shall be assessed individually, to do individually facilitation of work assignments/studies. Such an arrangement requires a doctor's statement.

The most important infection control measures that everyone should follow are:

1.Illness and quarantine

  • If you are ill or have a feeling of illness, then you should stay at home.
  • If you are in quarantine, then do not visit or stay at Diehtosiida.

2. Hygiene

  • Wash your hands often and thoroughly in lukewarm soapy water. If you do not have access to water, use hand disinfection with alcohol based products.
  • Use paper tissue in front of your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing. Throw the tissue after use. If you do not have paper tissue, use a flexed elbow.
  • Wash your hands before touching your face and before eating.

3. Keep a distance from others

  •  Keep at least 2 meter away from other people.

4. Travel

We encourage all our students and staff to decrease their travelling activity as much as possible. This also applies to domestic travel.

We note that you have a responsibility to follow which rules apply at any time at the border crossing. You must in particular be careful about whether you are allowed to cross the border, whether you need to prove documentation and / or take mandatory testing for covid-19 and what quarantine rules apply when crossing the border. Information and rules about border crossing can be found here: Quarantine and isolation - NIPH (

The situation can change quickly, and then the measures also change. An update on current measures will then be available on this website.
